Tutoring and Mentoring

Tutoring and Mentoring - Helping kids succeed and letting them know the community cares about them. Kiwanis members currently help at Jessie Mae Elementary, Supply Elementary, and Waccamaw school.

Summer Enrichment

Summer Enrichment keeps kids on track for academic success by making learning, fun, free, and accessible. The program offers story time, reading buddies, STEM activities, chess, family nutrition, school supplies, and weekly food boxes for elementary and middle school students. It is a collaborative effort of the Kiwanis Clubs of Shallotte and Southport, the Brunswick Arts Council, the Rourk Library and North Carolina Cooperative Extension.  

Red Wagons

Kiwanis collect new and used books for children. These books are but into Red Wagons and placed in businesses and professional offices across southern Brunswick County for children to read while they are waiting with their parents.

Aktion Club

Aktion club is the only community-service club for adults living with disabilities. Aktion Club allows members to develop initiative and leadership skills in serving their communities while enabling their integration into society.  


Terrific Kids

Terrific Kids is a student recognition program that promotes character development, self-esteem, and perseverance. Students work with their classroom teacher to establish goals to improve their behavior, peer relationships, attendance, or schoolwork.

Key Club

Key Club International, the largest high school service organization in the world, empowers its members to lead and serve by cultivating leadership skills they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Field of Honor

The Shallotte and South Brunswick Islands Kiwanis sponsors a Field of Honor at Mulberry Park in Shallotte. This event intended to honor American heroes displays hundreds of flags. Each U.S. flag represents an individual and tells a story. Flags are sponsored for Active Military, Fallen Servicemen and Servicewomen, Veterans, First Responders, Police, Fire, EMS, and Frontline Healthcare Workers.
